Jane Wright, Proprietor

Blueberry Warren started orginally as a boarding facility for rabbits and guinea pigs in 1997 when a child was on holiday and his neighbours were looking after his pets, they went in one day to find the hutch and run destroyed by vandals and the poor animals were found impailed on the railings.

The rescue side of things started through Janes lifelong love of animals and the desire to create somewhere where unwanted and ill-treated animals could find peace in a safe haven to live out the rest of their natural lives. Animals that permanently live at Blueberry Warren include parrots, tortoises, ducks, geese chickens, dogs, cats, budgies, rabbits guinea pigs, a llama and a couple of pigs! Blueberry also sells rabbits and guinea pigs and its aim is to make sure that people find the right pet for them. So many pet shops are ill informed about these animals and sell them without enough correct information and it is these pets that end up here at the sanctuary.

We will spend as long as is required with a customer to ensure that they leave here with the right rabbit or guinea pig for them, sometimes after talking to us will realise that neither a guinea pig or rabbit is right for them and are happy not to have made a mistake by purchasing the wrong pet!!

All rabbits that come to us for holiday boarding are housed in 6 foot hutches and are fed according to the owners instructions, all food and vegetables are provided and are included in the cost.

We are self-funding. Donations always welcome.

There is a small shop selling bagged organic hay as well as treats, feed and bedding, hutches and runs and a small selection of gifts and greetings cards....the proceeds from all these sales goes back into the business to help continue the rescue side of things.

Jane realised that there was a need for a place where these animals could be looked after in a safe and secure enviroment and so Blueberry Warren was born! Named after Janes own pet rabbit at the time.
